Sharjah Archeology Authority organized a virtual lecture through the Zoom program entitled “The History of Stone Traps in Jordan Using the New Techniques in the Photoluminescence of the Stone Surface”, presented by Dr. Sahar Al-Khasawneh – Head of the Conservation and Management of Heritage Resources Department at the Faculty of Archeology and Anthropology at Yarmouk University. The number of interested persons and students of college of archeology has reached 150 participants, this initiative comes within the series of weekly scientific lectures presented by the Sharjah Archeology Authority.

Sharjah Archeology Authority organized a virtual lecture through “Zoom” program entitled “The Scientific Methodology for Restoration and Detection of Forgery of Archaeological Oil Paintings”, presented by Dr. Mahmoud Sayed Qarni, a former researcher and lecturer at the College of Arts and Humanities at Jazan University in Saudi Arabia, in the presence of more than 200 participants who are interested in preserving heritage and the restoration of paintings, such as researchers and specialists from all over the world. The lecturer focused on introducing the most important components of archaeological oil paintings, the most prominent manifestations of damage and the factors causing them, as well as the most appropriate materials and methods used in the restoration of archaeological oil paintings and many more.

As part of Sharjah Archaeology authority’s keenness to promote the culture of archaeological awareness among the general community and to open the field to specialists with experience in archaeological work, the authority organized a virtual lecture via the “zoom” program, entitled “Archaeology and its importance between theory and practice”, Presented by researcher Dr. Ahmed Hefni Al-Badawi, in the presence of more than 150 participants who are interested in the field of restoration of buildings and monuments, an electronic certificates of attendance were given to participants. During the lecture, Dr. Ahmed Al-Badawi reviewed the definition of Archaeology and its importance in archaeological work, the history of the genesis of archaeology, as well as the means of inferring archaeological sites.

Sharjah Archeology Authority organized a virtual lecture entitled “Al-Hadba Minaret – The Lost Icon of Mosul in Iraq”, presented by Prof. Eng. Dr. Imad Hani Al-Allaf, a teacher in the Department of Architecture, College of Engineering at Mosul University in Iraq, through “Zoom” program, participated by a number of interested persons and students from Archeology colleges, whose number exceeded 80 participants. Online certificates of attendance were awarded to participants. The lecture reviewed a historical overview of the famous Al-Hadba Minaret, which is about a thousand years old

Sharjah Archeology Authority organized a virtual lecture via “Zoom” program, entitled “The Burial Sequence of Marawi Kings in the Meroitic Pyramids of Kush II”, presented by Dr. Salah Hassan Matar Al-Ukhaider, an expert specializing in Meroitic archeology, a lecturer at Al-Neelain University and a member and official of the archaeological team at the Sharjah Archeology Authority in 2020. It was administered by Mr. Issa Youssef – Director of Antiquities and Material Heritage at the authority, in the presence of a number of interested persons and students of archeology faculties, whose number exceeded 100 members.

Sharjah Archaeology Authority organized a virtual lecture, entitled “Study and analysis of structural and architectural defects in archaeological and historical buildings.” The session was moderated by Muhammad Mustafa Muhammad Abdul Majeed, teaching restoration and maintenance of archaeological and historical buildings at the Faculty of Archeology at the University of Fayoum in Egypt. The lecture was attended by over 90 individuals eager to learn more about the restoration of buildings and monuments and also shed light on the various materials and elements used in the field.

‘Sharjah Archaeology authority (SAA) organized a virtual lecture entitled “Sharjah’s cultural role through archaeological discoveries through the ages” by Mr. Issa Youssef, Director of the Department of Archaeology and physical heritage, Sharjah Archaeology authority (SAA). The Sharjah Archeology Authority organized a virtual lecture via Zoom program entitled “Sharjah’s Civilizational Role through Archaeological Discoveries during history”, presented by Mr. Issa Yousef – Director of the Department of Archeology and Material Heritage, at the Sharjah Archeology Authority. The lecturer reviewed the eras and periods of the Emirate of Sharjah, which placed it at the forefront of the global archeology scene, he introduced Dr. Yazan Abu Al-Hassan, with the participation of 165 specialized and non-specialist participants, who are seeking to enrich their culture and knowledge, especially in the field of archeology which receives welcomes and appreciation.

Sharjah Archaeology Authority organized a lecture on Monday 10/08/2020 titled:”pottery and community identity: an archaeological study of Islamic pottery collections in northern Jordan” presented by Dr. Hussein Mahmoud al-Sababha, assistant professor of Archaeology, Yarmouk University, and administered by Dr. Yazan Abu al-Hassan. Dr. Sababha stated that: archaeology; a trend commonly used to obtain scientific information, but information can always be interpreted and paired with ethnographic and archaeological studies, so the use of pottery as a cultural option was key to this study, to discuss community identity. At the end of the lecture, he responded to the participant’s queries , the number of attendees were in excess of 140 participants.

‘The Sharjah Archaeology Authority (SAA), organized last Monday a lecture titled “3D digital photography”, via the “Zoom” program, presented by the American expert, Dr. Herbert Maschner – President of the Global Digital Heritage. Dr. Maschner stated: The work with the Sharjah Archeology Authority during 2019/2020 came to enhance the vocabulary and areas of specialization of the international institution, and the result of this cooperation was the search in 111 sites, the images of the sites were more than 114,478 images, with a total of 306235 scans and images, and 633 laser scans. The Foundation also carried out advanced analyzes, 3D printing, 3D rendering, in Al Midfa Mosque, the tomb of Amoud bin Ali, the advisor of the ruler of Oman in Maliha, the Maliha Fort and the collections of the Sharjah Archeology Authority exhibition in Sharjah. The lecture was attended by more than 170 participants, and was administered by Dr. Yazan Abul-Hassan.

‘ Sharjah Archaeology Authority (SAA), organized a virtual lecture titled: “Money Used in the Arabian Gulf”, delivered online via Zoom system by Prof. Dr. Atef Mansour Mohammed Ramadan, Professor of Islamic coins and antiquities and dean of the Faculty of Archaeology at Fayoum University, Arab Republic of Egypt. He enumerated the currencies that were in circulation, namely: the Venetian ducat, the Austrian thaler, the Spanish riyal, the Portuguese money, the English pound, the Safavid and Indian laren, in addition to Tawila Al-Hasa which was minted in an imitation of the Laren coins in silver or copper. Dr. Atef responded to the participants who were about 200 participants.
