In cooperation with an American team from Global Digital Heritage Authority, Sharjah Archaeology Authority executes a comprehensive program to re-photograph all the archaeological and heritage sites in Sharjah emirate, by applying digital photographing and 3D virtual simulation and the local geographical data.

Sharjah Archaeology Authority has set a comprehensive program to re-photograph all such archaeological and heritage sites in Sharjah emirate, in addition to photographing all such unearthed archaeological items, whether those shown in Museums or kept in stores, using state-of-the-art world photographing technologies at present, by applying digital photographing and 3D virtual simulation and the local geographical data.

Dr. Sabah Aboud Jassem Director of Sharjah Archaeology Authority stated that an agreement was made with an American team from Global Digital Heritage to execute this program in coordination with the Authority.

He added that the said team had visited Sharjah emirate in February 2019, as field visits were made to the archaeological and heritage sites and museums across the emirate including: Mleiha, Central Region, Jabal A Bhais and Al Thaquiba, and Eastern Coast sites in Kalba, Khorfakan, and Diba.

He also mentioned that samples of archaeological and heritage sites were photographed, including certain pieces from Mleiha and Diba and other sites, in addition to a number of archaeological pieces. The team will continue its work in this regard during the coming seasons.
