Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Manuscripts must be submitted in .doc or .docx format.
  • The research must not have been previously published or submitted to another journal, nor be part of a published book.
  • Authors agree to transfer full copyright to the journal. Should the journal wish to republish the work, written permission from the author will be obtained.
  • Authors must disclose any sources of research, funding or support.
  • Authors must comply with the journal’s author guidelines and publication ethics policies.

Author Guidelines

  1. Authors should conform to the submission guidelines specified by Sharjah Journal of Archaeological Studies and should be highly committed to responsible research conduct and ethical publication standards.
  2. Authors are required to ensure that they meet the authorship criteria adopted by Sharjah Journal of Archaeological Studies prior to manuscript submission.
  3. Authors of original research must provide an accurate and scholarly presentation of the study, accompanied by a clear explanation of its academic significance and contribution to the field of archaeological studies.
  4. The submitted manuscript should include sufficient data and reliable references to enable other researchers to cite and build upon the work.
  5. Authors must avoid all forms of unethical research and publication practices, including plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification.
  6. The Editorial Board of Sharjah Journal of Archaeological Studies reserves the right to request original data or supporting materials for editorial review and peer evaluation. Authors should be prepared to make such materials available upon request.
  7. Submitted works must be original and unpublished, with proper and accurate citation of all sources and scholarly works that contributed to shaping the submitted manuscript.
  8. The corresponding author is responsible for confirming that written consent has been obtained from all co-authors who have made a substantial contribution to the research.
  9. Submitting the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one academic journal constitutes unethical publishing behavior.
  10. The author(s) retain intellectual ownership of the submitted manuscript until its acceptance for publication.
  11. Upon acceptance, authors are required to transfer copyright to the publisher. No part of the published work may be reproduced or republished without prior written permission from Sharjah Journal of Archaeological Studies.
  12. Authors must disclose all sources of funding and declare any potential financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that may influence the evaluation of the manuscript.
  13. If an author discovers a serious error in his/her published work, it is his/her responsibility to notify the editor or publisher to withdraw or correct the error.

 

Submission Guidelines

These guidelines define the scientific, organizational, and formatting requirements for submitting research papers to Sharjah Journal of Archaeological Studies, as follows:

  1. The journal publishes research related to archaeology and its sub-disciplines, in full accordance with the journal’s scope, themes, and editorial guidelines.
  2. Manuscripts should not be fewer than 4,000 words and not exceed 9,000 words.
  3. Manuscripts must have the following sections: a one-page abstract in Arabic and English (about 200 words each); keywords; introduction; main body divided into the appropriate sections and sub-sections; conclusions; brief biographies of authors; and a list of references
  4. Authors' full names and current affiliations must be given immediately below the title of the article.
  5. Manuscripts should be typed, double spaced, in Times New Roman, 14 points font for the main text. Only one side of the sheet should be used, and line spacing should be double.
  6. In accordance with the journal’s editorial policy, manuscripts should preferably be structured as follows:
    • Introduction: Presents the research topic, significance, and objectives, concluding with the research problem or hypothesis.
    • Methodology: Describes the research approach, tools, and study sample.
    • Results and Discussion: Presents findings, analyzes results, and relates them to previous studies.
    • Conclusions: Summarizes the study’s scholarly contribution without repeating the results.
  7. Graphs and illustrative figures must be embedded within the text, numbered consecutively, with titles and explanatory notes provided below each figure.
  8. Tables should be included within the text and consecutively numbered and given titles above them. Explanatory notes are written down beneath the tables.
  9. Figures and Images: Authors must clearly identify the source of all plates, figures, and illustrations. Images must be submitted at a minimum resolution of 300 DPI in JPG or TIFF formats. All necessary permissions for publication must be obtained and submitted. Full responsibility for securing copyright permissions—including for reproduced or previously published materials—rests with the author. All images must be embedded in their appropriate locations within the text.
  10. Margins should be 2.5 cm in width on all sides of the page.
  11. The journal adopts the APA 7th Edition citation and referencing system.
  12. The journal follows the transliteration system for Arabic and Persian letters in accordance with the standards of the Encyclopaedia of Islam.

Citation in "References list" should be listed alphabetically according to the author's/authors' last name/s (in accordance with APA style).

 

Declaration Form

The author(s) are also required to upload a scanned copy of the Author Declaration Form after completing and signing it through the journal’s submission platform at the time of manuscript submission. This is considered a mandatory requirement to complete the submission and peer-review process.
