Publishing Policies
Author Guidelines
These guidelines define the scientific, organizational, and formatting requirements for submitting research papers to the Sharjah Journal of Archaeological Studies, an international peer-reviewed academic journal that follows an expert Peer Review system and adopts an Open Access publishing model.
First: Publication Policy and Language
Language of Publication:
The journal accepts research papers in both Arabic and English.
Quality of Research:
Submitted manuscripts must be written in precise academic language, professionally proofread linguistically and scientifically, and fully compliant with the journal’s scope, thematic areas, and submission guidelines.
Bilingual Abstracts:
- Research papers written in Arabic must include an extended abstract in English.
- Research papers written in English must include an extended abstract in Arabic.
Academic Originality
Manuscripts must be original and must not have been previously published or submitted simultaneously to another journal or publishing entity.
Copyright
Upon acceptance of the manuscript, authors are required to sign a copyright agreement in favor of the Sharjah Journal of Archaeological Studies, granting the journal the right to publish and make the research available in accordance with its Open Access policy.
Publication Frequency
The journal is published twice a year (May and December). The journal’s website accepts submissions throughout the year, and accepted articles are published online immediately upon completion of the peer-review and editorial processes.
Second: Manuscript Structure
A research paper is published in the Sharjah Journal of Archaeological Studies after the completion of the peer-review process and its acceptance by a formal “Accepted” decision issued by the Editorial Board. The journal’s Editorial Office is responsible for preparing the final version of the manuscript.
Authors are required to review and correct the final page layout (Paper Layout) in PDF format, known as the Uncorrected Proof, in accordance with the specified remarks. The final revised version is first published online under the section “Article in Press”, prior to its appearance in the official issue of the journal.
In general, the content of the research paper should be organized in the following order:
- Title
- Author(s) Names
- Institutional Affiliations
- Abstract
- Keywords
- Introduction
- Methodology (for applied research)
- Results and Discussion
- Conclusions
- References
Third: Formatting Requirements
File Format:
Manuscripts must be submitted in one of the following formats: .doc or .docx.
Word Count:
Submissions should range between a minimum of 4,000 words and a maximum of 7,000 words.
Font and Size:
- Arabic manuscripts should use Simplified Arabic, font size 14.
- English manuscripts should use Times New Roman, font size 12.
Margins:
Top: 3 cm | Bottom: 3 cm | Inside: 3 cm | Outside: 2 cm.
Figures and Images:
Authors must clearly identify the source of all figures, plates, and illustrative materials. Images must be submitted at a resolution of no less than 300 DPI, in JPG or TIFF format, and accompanied by all required permissions for publication. Authors bear full responsibility for obtaining all necessary permissions to use any copyrighted material, including reproduced images from previously published works. All figures and images must be inserted in their appropriate positions within the text.
Fourth: Section Descriptions
Title:
The title must be accurate, concise, and clearly reflective of the content of the research.
Author(s) Names:
Authors’ names should be written in full without academic titles, indicating the affiliated institution, department, university, country, and email address.
Abstract:
A single paragraph of 150–200 words summarizing the objectives of the study, its theoretical framework, methodology, and key findings.
Keywords:
Between 3 and 6 keywords, separated by semicolons.
Introduction:
Presents the research topic, its significance and objectives, and concludes with a clear statement of the research problem or hypothesis.
Methodology:
Explains the research approach, tools, and study sample.
Results and Discussion:
Presents and analyzes the findings and relates them to previous studies.
Conclusions:
Summarizes the scholarly contribution of the study without repeating the results.
Fifth: Referencing and Technical Standards
The journal follows the APA (7th edition) referencing style.
The journal adopts a transliteration system for Arabic and Persian characters in accordance with the standards of the Encyclopedia of Islam.
Sixth: Submission and Peer Review
Manuscripts are submitted electronically via the journal’s online platform (………).
All submissions are subject to similarity checking using Turnitin software.
All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process.
No manuscript is published unless all peer-review, revision, and scholarly editing requirements have been fully satisfied.
Seventh: Publication Fees and Access
The Sharjah Journal of Archaeological Studies adopts a free publication and full Open Access policy, whereby all research articles are published without any charges to authors at all stages of peer review, editorial processing, publication, and archiving.
All published articles are made immediately and freely available in full text to readers and researchers without restrictions, in support of the dissemination of scientific knowledge and the promotion of its circulation at both regional and international levels.
