His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, God save him, stressed that there are many heritage supporting and maintenance programs being executed and carried out by Sharjah regionally, besides the future programs being prepared now. His Highness also pointed out that Cultural Heritage maintenance and protection Programs are continued. The Cultural practical basis is being developed as per Sharjah Strategy toward promoting cultural affairs inside and outside the emirate.

His Highness chaired the third meeting of Advisory Council for the Regional Center for Preserving Cultural Heritage in the Arabian Region (ICCROM – Sharjah). The meeting was held in its headquarter in University City . His Highness reviewed the general plans and the coming-up activities carried out by ICCROM Sharjah with its regional and global partners, and the strategic plans of the Center and the Center’s plan proposed for the five coming years.

During the meeting, His Highness listened to a detailed presentation on the main achievements by ICCROM Sharjah achieved during the last period, and the future needs for them to continue their role, programs, and events.

Oliver Marin Chairman of Executive Council for International Center of Studying, Maintaining and Restoring Cultural Property hailed H.H. Sharjah ruler’s efforts and support to preserve the cultural heritage and Sharjah emirate’s many initiatives in this regard across the region. The said initiatives have achieved many of the Center’s jobs. Sharjah has become a model international hub for building and developing practical capabilities in terms of maintaining and protecting heritage.

Dr. Sabah Al Jassem director general of Sharjah Archaeology Authority, Dr. Zaki Aslan director of ICCROM Sharjah, and corporate partners from Sharjah emirate namely: Sharjah Archaeology Authority, Sharjah Museums Authority, American University in Sharjah, Sharjah University, Members of ICCROM , directors of cultural establishments from Arab countries, and representatives from culture and knowledge development all attended the meeting.
