This small city (Dibba Al-Hisn) occupies a quiet and distinguished location overlooking the western coast of the Sea of Oman, and represents the natural geographical extension of the eastern Emirate of Sharjah; it is adjacent to Dibba Al-Bay’ah to the north, which is part of the Sultanate of Oman, and Dibba Al-Fujairah to the south. It is also worth noting that Dibba Al-Hisn is the smallest area among the three parts of Dibba city. The name Dibba is associated in pre-Islamic history with an Arab market, where merchants from the Arabian Peninsula used to meet with others from India, Sindh, China and the lands of Saraf. The name Dibba is also associated with the Ridda Wars that broke out between the Muslim army on the one hand, and the group of apostates from the religion of Islam on the other hand, after the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) revealed guidance and mercy.
