The symposium “Africa and the Arabian Peninsula: Archaeological Links during the Stone Age” witnessed a discussion session entitled “Migration Routes from Africa”, where they discussed the geographical and environmental role in shaping ancient human migration routes.
This session was followed by another session entitled “Human Adaptation Strategies: Environmental Challenges and Stone Innovations”, where researchers discussed ways to adapt to changing environments, and innovations witnessed by stone industries during different eras, reviewing the results of archaeological studies from the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.

The session was attended by a group of experts and specialists who provided in-depth insights into the stone heritage and human migration routes throughout the ages, the role of East Africa in the movement of human migrations, and the environmental and geographical factors that affected human movement across continents.

The symposium discussed the geological effects on the distribution of stone tools between Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, and the role of natural factors in shaping lifestyles and movement in ancient times. It also addressed the importance of the southern route as a pivotal passage for human migrations, reviewing archaeological evidence that confirms the strategic role of this region in linking civilizations, where the southeast of the Arabian Peninsula was highlighted as a major station for cultural interaction between Africa and Asia, explaining how this region contributed to strengthening the civilizational ties between the two continents throughout the ages.
