‘ Sharjah Archaeology Authority (SAA), organized a virtual lecture titled: “Money Used in the Arabian Gulf”, delivered online via Zoom system by Prof. Dr. Atef Mansour Mohammed Ramadan, Professor of Islamic coins and antiquities and dean of the Faculty of Archaeology at Fayoum University, Arab Republic of Egypt. He enumerated the currencies that were in circulation, namely: the Venetian ducat, the Austrian thaler, the Spanish riyal, the Portuguese money, the English pound, the Safavid and Indian laren, in addition to Tawila Al-Hasa which was minted in an imitation of the Laren coins in silver or copper. Dr. Atef responded to the participants who were about 200 participants.
