The modern town of Mleiha situates about 50 km to the east of Shariah. the ancient site of Mleiha comprises a wide agricultural settlement containing a variety of archaeological features dating to the post Iron Age, Hellenistic and post Hellenistic periods. The oldest archaeological discoveries recorded so far in Mleiha date back to the 3rd century BC; however recent discoveries of a monumental Jmm an -Nar tomb have pushed its ancient history back to the 3rd millwnnium BC.

Dibba al – Hisin, a coastal city within the Emirate of Sharjah, is located on the east coast of the UAE and boarders the sea of Oman. it is situated approximately thirty milels north of the Emirate of Fujairah and ninth miles to the east of the Emirate of Dubai.The history of pre-Islamic Arabic contains references to Dibba al – Hisin as the site of the influential Arab Suq Jahiliyah, where merchants from India, Sind, China, and others from both east and west met ans traded.

Jebel al-Buhais

Jebel al – Buhais lies in the middle sector of the Emirate of Sharjah. It rises to about 340m above the surrounding plains. The Jebel consists of Maastrichtian limestone layer dating to 6560- million years ago.A series of intensive archaeological excavations have recently taken place along the slopes and the surrounding area of the Jebel. Excavations resulted in uncovering a massive graveyard containing numbers graves belonging to the stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age and Hellenistic period.

The fort of Mleiha

The fort of Mleiha

The fort was discovered in 1990. The French expedition conducted five campaigns of excavations until 1999. The fort was bisected by the Al Dhaid/Al Madam main road and hid the central part of the building under the road and its embankment. Thanks to his highness, Sheikh Dr sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi – the Ruler of sharjah , ordered a detour to the road , thus enabling a full excavation of the building.

Muweilah

Muweilah is an Iron Age settlement located approximately 15 km from the present -day coastline in Sharjah and about 45 km from inland Dhaid plain. it is likely that when it was occupied in antiquity, it was situated near an ancient lagoon, or Khor , that came in from the coast. the United Arab Emirates lilkely experienced a similar climate to today: sweltering summers and warm winters with minimal 100 mm per annum rainfall.
